After a slow start in Hanoi, we grew to love Vietnam. It wasn’t love at first sight for me but after spending a whole month here, I’m now sold on all the charms of Vietnam. My family made fun of me for this turn around, especially in light of my obsessive listening to the “Hello Vietnam” song that I’ve had on repeat for the past few days (sometimes accompanied by some crazy nostalgic tears).
Now we are off to the island of Palawan in Philippines, in the past voted by travel magazines as “the world’s best island”.
We are heading first to Puerto Princessa and then to El Nido and Coron for a couple of weeks of celebrations of the Chinese New Year (unless that vulcano near Manila disrupts all air travel today).
