There was a lot more skateboarding in November. Maki needed all the physical and any sort of social interactions he could get. He only had one friend Matai by then but Matai was in school and had after-school activities so we didn’t really see him enough.

We also got invited by Olivia to a fabulous celebration of her 40th bday. We were all finally starting to feel like we have ‘our people’ in Christchurch.

We also signed up Maki for North Beach surf and lifesaving club where he went on Sundays for a couple of hours. This was one more community we got to connect with thanks to Olivia and it gave Maki a new opportunity to hang out with kids his age.

Pepi got invited by her friend Ai Nee to join the University of Canterbury Student Army volunteers for a trip to Akaroa to count Pohatu Penguins. That was an incredible opportunity and a great experience for her. They climbed the hills around Akaroa, getting into bushes, to count penguins and their nests.

Our US friends Tracy, Adam, and Sky were back in Christchurch after traveling around NZ. It was awesome to have them back in town. Our social life was picking up a bit and we were all happier.
The school was still an issue, getting up too early was taking a toll on the kids and me but it didn’t reach the boiling point yet. It took another month for the straw to break a camel’s back.
Petra had another Ultimate tournament and a fancy concert with her orchestra.

We organized a nice Thanksgiving celebration at our house and that was really fun.

Life in Christchurch is gaining steam, we are meeting more people, the weather is getting better and by now, we are all enjoying being here.
